OR Attorney General Rayfield responds to coalition securing major win as Education Department restores withheld funding

Published Date: Aug 1, 2025

Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield responded to official confirmation that the U.S. Department of Education has released millions of dollars in federal education funding that had been abruptly frozen by the Trump Administration just weeks before the school year. “This is a win for Oregon’s students and families. These funds keep critical programs running—from English language learning to school mental health services to summer learning programs. When the federal government tried to pull the rug out from under our schools, we took action to make sure Oregon schools would have what they need. Today, that funding is back where it belongs.” – AG Rayfield
