MI Attorney General Nessel achieves resolutions regarding tree companies alleged to have misled consumers after severe storms

Published Date: Jul 30, 2025

MI Attorney General Dana Nessel is announcing the resolution of a lawsuit against a group of tree companies accused of deceiving consumers seeking storm clean-up services. The complaint alleged these companies violated the Michigan Consumer Protection Act by misleading consumers about the nature of the agreements they were signing, the cost of the services, potential financial responsibility for costs not covered by insurance, and their legal rights and obligations. “When severe weather strikes, Michigan consumers deserve honest help, not misleading contracts or inflated prices. My office remains committed to protecting Michiganders from deceptive business practices, especially in the aftermath of disasters.” – AG Nessel
