AG Torrez released a statement regarding the attorneys general filing an action against DOGE: "The New Mexico Department of Justice is closely monitoring Elon Musk’s unlawful intrusion into the critical infrastructure and databases of multiple federal agencies and investigating the ways in which those actions threaten the privacy rights of every American citizen. Attorney General Torrez is in daily communication with his counterparts from around the nation and while he applauds their efforts to stop DOGE’s penetration of the Treasury Department payment system, he believes the threat posed by Elon Musk’s violation of basic constitutional principles requires a more comprehensive and direct legal action. For that reason, NMDOJ lawyers are currently working with several other states on an additional legal response to this unprecedented threat to our government.
