AG Torrez Hosts Oilfield Theft Stakeholder Collaboration in Southeast New Mexico

Published Date: Dec 17, 2025

AG Torrez, along with the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association (NMOGA), hosted the first Oilfield Theft Stakeholder Collaboration yesterday, bringing together nearly 50 key stakeholders including law enforcement officers, legislators and members of the oil and gas industry to discuss oilfield theft mitigation in New Mexico. The group spoke candidly about issues affecting the industry and law enforcement while learning some best practices from neighboring states.

“Oilfield theft is a growing problem in New Mexico that likely costs New Mexicans tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue each year that would otherwise go to critical initiatives like education, infrastructure, public safety, healthcare and more. This was a productive first step for my team and I to address a longstanding problem, and I am looking forward to working with our public and private partners to make an impact in the oilfield theft issues affecting our state.” – AG Torrez
