Attorney General Raúl Torrez today announced over $388,000 for New Mexico as part of a $45 million multistate settlement with Block, Inc., the company behind the popular peer-to-peer payments app, Cash App. The settlement stems from allegations that Block misled consumers about the safety of Cash App, failed to protect users from known fraud on the platform, and did not provide the fraud protection/resolution that was promised – and required by law.  

“New Mexico working families should be able to trust a company that promises to safeguard their finances, especially a large, national platform like Cash App. I’ll continue to protect New Mexico consumers who were taken advantage of by fraudsters. We will continue to hold national conglomerates accountable when they break the law and threaten the safety of New Mexico working families in the process.” – AG Torrez
