Today, F.A. United States Attorney Ryan Ellison and New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez announced the filing of a federal civil forfeiture complaint seeking to forfeit more than $2 million that was seized due to allegations that the assets constitute proceeds of a scheme to defraud Medicaid and state criminal charges against an additional defendant. These actions in federal and state court are part of the Department of Justice’s 2026 National Health Care Fraud Takedown.
“These cases reflect my Office’s ongoing commitment to protecting taxpayer-funded health care programs, safeguarding public resources, and holding accountable those who exploit medical systems for personal gain. Through our Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and partnerships with federal law enforcement agencies, we continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute health care fraud, prescription drug fraud, and related financial crimes.” – AG Torrez
