Published Date: Aug 7, 2026

Attorney General William Tong announced today that the U.S. District Court in Connecticut granted the state’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit challenging the state’s laws banning firearm possession by convicted felons.

“This decision reaffirms that Connecticut’s gun safety laws are constitutional. Keeping firearms out of the hands of convicted felons is a commonsense safeguard that continues to keep our communities safe. We will continue to vigorously defend our gun laws to protect families in our state." – AG Tong
