Attorney General William Tong announced a $15,000 settlement with eLearning Systems, LLC over misleading marketing of the company’s online anti-domestic violence course. The company improperly marketed its “Course for Violence” as a program to satisfy pretrial Family Violence Education Program requirements imposed in Connecticut criminal domestic violence cases. The company also improperly used the Connecticut state seal on its website. The company is not endorsed by the state and is not an acceptable substitute for Connecticut’s Family Violence Education Program.
“This program was never vetted and never endorsed by the state for any court-related Family Violence Education Program. That anyone would seek to mislead families and those in need with unqualified training is a sad and cynical affront to anyone who has experienced domestic violence or learned from these programs,” said Attorney General Tong.
