AG Nessel recently recognized the efforts of the Department’s Consumer Protection Team and shared insights into the most frequent complaints from consumers in 2024, coinciding with National Consumer Protection Week. In collaboration with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, the AARP, and other organizations, AG Nessel and the Consumer Protection Team are committed to educating Michigan residents about prevalent scams, data breaches, and various consumer-related concerns. Each year, the team processes over 10,000 written complaints and receives more than 20,000 phone inquiries from consumers, while enforcing key regulations like the Michigan Consumer Protection Act (MCPA).
