AG Nessel announced the launch of a comprehensive criminal investigation into Native American boarding schools and other institutions that were located throughout the State of Michigan. The Department of Attorney General is seeking to identify, document, investigate, and prosecute instances where criminal acts may have occurred at these institutions.

To support this effort, the Department is asking survivors, witnesses, and individuals with firsthand knowledge to come forward and share information that may assist the investigation.
