AG Mayes, AG Rayfield lead 10 other attorneys general in presenting tariff lawsuit to the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York

Published Date: May 21, 2025

The multi-state coalition co-led by Attorney General Mayes suing the Trump administration over its illegal use of tariffs argued its case before the U.S. Court of International Trade. The coalition argues that the law President Trump is using – the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) – does not empower the President to impose tariffs. “There’s nothing ‘America First’ about making Arizona families pay thousands of dollars more for everyday goods. The law is clear: the President cannot unilaterally impose tariffs. I sued to stop this abuse of power, protect Arizonans, and stand up for the rule of law.” – AG Mayes
