Attorney GeneralEllison co-led a coalition of 19 attorneys general in submitting a commentletter that opposes the Office of Personnel Management’s proposed rule tocreate a new employment classification in the federal civil service, ScheduleF. This classification, if implemented, would allow the Trump Administration tounilaterally strip critical workplace protections from tens of thousands ofcareer federal employees, allowing Trump to fire them for purely political orideological reasons unrelated to their job performance. “This seeminglybureaucratic change will make it possible for Donald Trump to politically purgelarge swaths of the federal government workforce, including scientists, analysts, and regulators, and that is deeply troubling. A politicized civilservice that sacrifices the public good for the president’s whims is bad forthose people who will be fired for no reason other than their political beliefsand dangerous for every American. Minnesotans depend on a federal governmentstaffed with fair, nonpolitical subject-matter experts, not unqualifiedpolitical cronies.” – AG Ellison
