Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced today that a North Jersey financial adviser is facing up to 10 years in state prison after a jury found him guilty of stealing more than $300,000 from an elderly client whose financial affairs he was entrusted to manage. The announcement comes as the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) observes World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2026 and highlights ongoing efforts to protect older adults from abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation.
“For many older New Jerseyans, making ends meet is challenging enough without worrying about being exploited by a trusted financial adviser. As rising costs place a heavy strain on seniors living on fixed incomes and savings, older New Jerseyans deserve to be able to trust that the professionals managing their finances will act in their best interest. This conviction demonstrates our commitment to holding accountable those who abuse positions of trust for personal gain and exploit vulnerable residents. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day also serves as an important reminder that awareness, education, and prevention are critical tools in protecting older adults from financial exploitation.” – AG Davenport
