Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell today issued the following statement after the Trump Administration announced it has finalized a rule prohibiting Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program funds from covering gender-affirming care for young people.  

“Transgender young people deserve to live with dignity, respect, and the freedom to access lifesaving healthcare that supports their emotional and physical wellbeing. The fact remains that federal law does not prohibit gender-affirming care for minors, and Massachusetts law continues to protect this care. This rule is yet another attempt by the Trump Administration to intimidate providers and scare and confuse patients.” – AG Campbell
