AG Campbell Issues Statement After Judge Temporarily Blocks Trump Administration From Forcing States To Claw Back SNAP Benefits

Published Date: Nov 10, 2025

Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell today issued the following statement after a federal judge in Massachusetts ordered a temporary block of the Trump Administration’s directive that states must claw back full SNAP benefits that were authorized in response to a court order in Rhode Island, as well as by guidance issued directly by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). A hearing has been scheduled at 3:30 pm today to argue for further relief.
“The federal government has proven that it cares more about its political agenda than making sure our residents can put food on the table. I am grateful that the Court has temporarily blocked the Trump Administration from ordering states to claw back critical resources from the children, elders, veterans, and people with disabilities who need them,” said AG Campbell. “We’ll keep fighting until this Administration stops using our residents as political bargaining chips.”
