AG Brown Statement Regarding Court Fixes to End Google Search Engine Monopoly and Restore Competition

AG Brown released thefollowing statement regarding the Court’s ruling on the remedies in the Google search antitrustcase to restore competition in the market and for the benefit of consumers:“For years, Google’s illegal conduct has stifled competition, limited consumer choice, andentrenched its monopoly,” said Attorney General Anthony Brown. “The Court’s remedies area critical step toward restoring fairness and innovation in the search marketplace. Maryland,together with our state and federal partners, will closely monitor the impact of these remedies. Ifstronger action is needed, we will not hesitate to return to court. When companies compete on alevel playing field, consumers benefit from better products, more options, and a fairermarketplace.”
