AG Brown announced today that his Consumer Protection Division filed charges alleging Intrepid Paralegal Solutions LLC and its majority owner and CEO, Daniel D. Manoff violated the Consumer Protection Act in connection with their offer of paralegal services to consumers.  

Intrepid and Manoff marketed their services to individuals who were facing a variety of legal issues. The charges allege that while Intrepid and Manoff claimed to be providing paralegal services, they were in fact performing substantive legal work and engaged in the unauthorized practice of law. The charges further allege that Intrepid and Manoff falsely represented that the company worked with attorneys to provide the consumers with its services, including by listing attorneys not involved with Intrepid’s work for consumers on its website without the attorneys’ permission. Intrepid also claimed its Director of Professional Practices and Standards had a lengthy legal career when, in fact, he had been disbarred in 1995. The company and its owner are also charged with deceptive billing practices.
