MD Attorney General Brown announces $314,000 settlement with athletic equipment manufacturer

Published Date: Jun 6, 2025

MD Attorney General Anthony Brown announced that his Consumer Protection Division has issued a Final Order against Gerald Stringer, who owned and operated Elkton-based Tiffin Athletic Mats, for violating the Consumer Protection Act by selling athletic equipment to consumers, nonprofits, and schools in Maryland and outside of Maryland without providing the promised equipment or refunds. “This case underscores our commitment to protecting Maryland consumers, including the schools and nonprofits that trusted this company with their hard-earned fundraising dollars. Tiffin Athletic Mats’ deceptive practices not only violated consumer protection laws but also betrayed the trust of young athletes and the communities that supported them.” – AG Brown
