HI AG Lopez urges public to register for notifications on filing claims for compensation in generic drug settlements

Attorney General Anne Lopez today alerted Hawaiʻi consumers whopurchased generic drugs between May 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019, that they maybe eligible to receive compensation.Recently, the presiding court approved a settlement reached with generic drugmanufacturer Apotex Corp. (“Apotex Settlement”) which settles certain claims assertedin antitrust and consumer protection lawsuits currently pending in the United StatesDistrict Court for the District of Connecticut (the “States’ Actions”), and the United StatesDistrict Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (the “EPP Class Actions”).The Apotex settlement stems from litigation alleging that certain generic drugmanufacturers engaged in widespread, long-running conspiracies to artificially inflateand manipulate drug prices, reduce competition, and unreasonably restrain trade withregard to numerous generic prescription drugs.
