AG Weiser released a statement following the court order blocking the White House funding freeze

Published Date: Jan 31, 2025

AG Weiser released the following statement after the US District Court in Rhode Island issued an order blocking the Trump administration from imposing a blanket freeze on federal funding:

“The unilateral order from the White House cutting critical federal program funding was wrong and it was illegal. We sued, and today a judge temporarily blocked it from going into effect. The White House’s illegal order created considerable confusion and would have had immediate harmful impacts on Coloradans who depend on federal programs for basic needs. It remains to be seen whether the Trump administration will try something like this again. That’s why we’ll continue to be vigilant and ready to counter any such future efforts, and we’ll work hard to protect Colorado and defend the rule of law.”

This temporary restraining order is in effect until the court rules on a motion for preliminary injunction.
